Our Profile

Increasingly, markets and the business environment have become more volatile and sensitive to natural, accidental, technological and man-made disasters. In addition, with increased reliance on the application of information technologies for business operations around the globe, the risk exposure of companies due to potential IT system failures has also significantly increased. Today, Multi National Corporations and Small Medium Enterprises spend a fortune as well as an immense amount of time and effort on their IT infrastructure and business IT systems. However, little attention and minimal effort has been devoted to the development of comprehensive and sound Operational Continuity Plans ( OCP ) for their business operations.

Many businesses seem to think that OCP is a complex, time and resource consuming process with little obvious benefit to gross margins. Yet insurance statistics indicate that billions of dollars are lost through catastrophes of one sort or another. Disasters are, by definition, unexpected; however, business managers must realize that when a disaster strikes, it is often a matter of life and death for their businesses. And many of the disasters reported in the media were actually preventable or avoidable, particularly those that were largely due to accidental, technological and man-made causes. All it takes is for the companies to take the appropriate steps to prevent and minimize the risks of occurrence of these disasters and they would be able to avoid them and the pain and need for recovery from these disasters. And that's all OCP is about.

While most companies understand the need and the importance of putting in place a comprehensive and effective operational continuity plan or at least some levels of operational continuity measures, but more often, they may not know how and where to start or have the in-house expertise in developing and implementing such plans, i.e. the process and the methodology. This is one of the greatest challenges most businesses face today.

In recognition of this prevailing tendency, ACROSS Consulting was setup in June 2003 with the primary aim to assist companies in their operational continuity plans development. Though established in June 2003, the Founding Consultant of ACROSS Consulting has spent numerous years working in Multi National Corporations, particularly in the telecommunication and petroleum industries, and was heavily involved in many OCP initiatives undertaken by these corporations over the years. Hence he brings along with him extensive experiences in setting up companies' IT organizations, building up and managing data centres, development of operational continuity plans, processes and procedures for the companies.
